The Christmas Chronicles is an American comedy-drama, full of adventure, TV series that premiered on November 22, 2018. Directed by Clay Kaytis, the story is based on a screenplay of the 90s by Matt Lieberman.
The storyline of the series revolves around two children, named Kate and Teddy, who witness Santa Claus in their home itself. They cause some major damage to the sleight by jumping on it, resulting in all the presents being vanished. Watch the series to know more about it!
The series is produced by Chris Columbus, Michael Barnathan, Mark Radcliffe in association with 1492 Pictures and Wonder Worldwide. It stars Kurt Russell, Judah Lewis, Darby Camp, Lamorne Morris, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and Oliver Hudson.
Christmas Chronicles 3: When Is It Coming Back?
The very first chapter of this franchise was released on November 22, 2018, which proved to be a huge hit in terms of viewership. Netflix reported the film was streamed by 20 million viewers within the first week of release.
Keeping the popularity of the show in mind, Netflix on November 25, 2020, aired the season’s chapter of the series. The second season as well turned out to be a massive hit and became the most-watched series on debut weekend of all time.
Precisely talking about the release date of Christmas Chronicles, the series has not been officially announced yet. However, there was a roughly two-year gap between the first and the second chapter and it’s only been one year since the release of The Christmas Chronicles 2.
Is The Christmas Chronicles 3 Really Happening?
To put it straight, it’s still a possibility and while there have been no official conversations between Chris Columbus and Netflix concerning the likelihood of The Christmas Chronicles threequel, the director also reveals the staff behind the franchise are very much keen to expand the tale, even if this means that they do have any clue on which direction to go with the narration just yet.
“I don’t know. But it’s interesting because right now I can’t even think about what the third potential movie could be,” Columbus said. “But we’re certainly set up to open up this world even more.”
However, even Kurt Russell who plays Santa Claus doesn’t have any idea whether or not there’ll be a threequel, although he’s pretty much excited about it if a third movie happens. “We have no idea what Netflix wants to do there,” he informed The New York Times.
“I’ve never been big on sequels, but that was 50, 40, 30 years ago. Now sequels aren’t even sequels anymore. We’ve just cyclically found our way around to making television. You go to the movies and you’re seeing television because there’s a serial aspect to it.”
“It’s like Marvel,” added actress Godlie Hawn who plays Mrs. Claus in the movie.
So coming back to the release date, it is not exactly known nor did the producers or the previous cast have revealed anything about it but well, we somewhat expected that the anticipated movie would be out sometime by the end of 2022 but it’s looking more and more impossible as there are not even two months left before the new year arrives. So now our prediction points towards somewhere in mid or late 2023. And if we’re lucky, we might get some official updates next year. Fingers crossed!
