Yuri On Ice Season 2 is an upcoming Japanese animated sports series and is much anticipated by many global fans.

When it comes to thriller or action anime series, almost everyone has watched them already but have you ever tried a sports genre? Lately, sports anime has been in the spotlight and has gained a massive recognition after the release of popular anime like Haikyuu, Kuroko no Basket, Free!, Prince of Tennis to name a few.

What do we know about the skate anime Yuri on Ice?

The story follows a well known Japanese skater Yuri Katsuki who is being trained under his role model and a world champion Russian skater Victor Nikiforov, along with the Russian skater ace Yuri Plitsetsky.

The first season of Yuri on Ice revolves around Yuri K and Yuri P as they practice their skating skills and train hard to participate in the Figure Skating Grand Prix. 

Yuri On Ice is helmed by Sayo Yamamoto and penned by Mitsurō Kubo.

Is Yuri on Ice Season 2 Renewed?

As of now, there have been no official renewal announcements for Season 2 of Yuri on Ice. Given how popular the series was, it’d be a shame if the widely known series ended with only one season. However, it was reported that a movie is in the making titled Yuri on Ice: Ice Adolescence. The teaser trailer of the movie has already been released. 

In an interview with Otaquest, series creator Sayo Yamamoto recently said: “I truly feel like the story of ‘Yuri!!! on ICE’ was able to be summed up over the course of it’s 12 episodes, but I’d be lying if I said that it was over. [Laughs] … We can’t stop, we won’t stop, we refuse to stop!”

Yuri on Ice Season 2 Release Date: When is it premiering? 

Yuri on Ice Season 1 comprises 12 episodes which were aired from October 6, 2016, to December 22, 2016. The series is produced by none other than MAPPA.  

MAPPA studio is popularly known for producing anime like Attack On Titan, Kakegurui, Dororo, and Jujutsu Kaisen to name a few.

As far as the release date for Yuri on Ice season 2 is concerned, there’s no word on it yet. But we do know that a movie is in the works titled “Yuri on Ice The Movie: Ice Adolescence.” It’s possible that the movie would come out by 2022 and perhaps the second season will arrive sometime in 2023. Although we’d reckon you to wait for further announcements from the makers. 

The Cast of Yuri on Ice Season 2: Who would be in it?

The upcoming cast for the second of Yuri on Ice is not confirmed but just like in the first season we’d expect to see the main characters in the next season.

Yuri on Ice Season 2 Plot: What to expect from the storyline of Yuri on Ice Season 2?

Yuri On Ice is a tale about the main protagonist Yuri Katsuki, a well known Japanese figure skater who was deemed the best of his nation but compared to the world skaters he’s far from being called the best in the world. 

The world best skater title belongs to Victor Nikiforov, a Russian figure skater. Every skater looks up to him and admires him for his greatness in skating and his performance is known to be always unrealistically breathtaking. 

Victor is truly something else. As for Katsuki Yuri, he still has a long way to go. 

During the Grand Prix final, he came in the sixth position meaning his position was the very last in the world-class championship competition.

This was an extremely difficult moment for Katsuki Yuri and he decided to take a break from skating after his miserable loss at the Grand Prix. But things took a different turn when he trained under his role model Victor and the rest is history.

Many fans have also come up with their own theory that in the second season Victor and Yuri K will face off against each other in the competition which may cause a strain in their relationship but we’ll have to be patient and see what unfolds!
