Yellowstone is an American Neo-Western drama television series conceived by Taylor Sheridan alongside John Linson that first launched on June 20, 2018, on Paramount Network. It stars the likes of Luke Grimes, Kevin Costner, Kelly Reilly, Gil Birmingham, Cole Hauser, and West Bentley.
It revolves around the disputes along with the shared horizons of a massive cattle farm, a native territory, and land creators. The series has a total of four seasons so far with 36 lists of episodes throughout the show.
The fourth season was aired on November 7, 2021, and currently, it has been released up to seven episodes out of 10 episodes. The last three episodes are scheduled to release on December 19, 2021 Episode 8 title “No Kindness for the Coward”, Episode 9 title “No Such Thing as Fair” on December 26, 2021, and lastly, Episode 10 title “Grass on the Streets and Weeds on the Rooftops” on January 2, 2022.
So as of now, the fifth outing of the show is yet to be renewed by Paramount Network and there is no information about what fate awaits for Yellowstone’s fifth season yet. To know more about the upcoming season, here’s what we know about it.
Is Yellowstone Season 5 happening?
According to an insider, it was reported that a fifth season is very much happening.
Back in March 2021, series star Cole Hauser who portrays Rip, reveals that the fifth season of Yellowstone is in the development phase. “[Series Creator and dramatist Taylor Sheridan] is working on it right now,” Hauser disclosed to Kathryn Hall. “Season five is going to be wonderful. The way we ended season four—I can’t give too much away, but the way season four ends, I think the audience… will be happily surprised.” He later added, “For us as actors, and I think I can speak for everybody… we come together. This is now going into our fifth year.”
It seems that the series is up for one more season although it’s not known if it will continue for a few more seasons but let’s keep it at that for now.
The release date for Yellowstone Season 5: When will it premiere?
The fourth season recently completed airing on Paramount Network. It was supposed to air much earlier but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the fourth season of Yellowstone had to face delays. If not for the pandemic, every new season normally airs in June and finishes airing in August.
Although the release date for Yellowstone season 5 has not been provided by the showrunners, yet they are very much keen to come back with a new season sticking to the previous release plan. Presently, the fourth season is earning tons of viewers and this might lead to Paramount releasing the fifth season in November 2022.
Furthermore, Paramount usually takes over a year to distribute new episodes after its official declaration. So the previous release plan from June to August doesn’t seem applicable for the next season considering Paramount is still yet to renew the fifth installment. Therefore, a late 2022 release sounds about right.
The cast of Yellowstone season 5: Who will return?
Everything is kept hush-hush but star Cole Hauser dropped hints on whom to expect to see for the upcoming season of Yellowstone.
According to him, “For us as actors—and I think I can speak for everybody, even including Kevin, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Luke Grimes, Gil Birmingham—you know, everybody is a part of it. We come together. This is now going into our fifth year, so we come together as a family.”
That’s not much information there but somehow it still works and now we do know that a fifth season is definitely on its way and it’s very much likely that all the major characters will return and reprise their roles.
Yellowstone spin-off and prequel series
This is great news to all the fans of Yellowstone. Series creator Taylor Sheridan is enlarging the Yellowstone franchise by adding spin-off and prequel series. A prequel series is officially titled “1883” and it stars Tim McGraw and Sam Elliot which is scheduled to premiere on Paramount+ on December 18, 2021.
Meanwhile, a spin-off titled “6666” is in development. Unfortunately, the official release is not confirmed at the moment but it will also be available on Paramount+.
If you haven’t watched Yellowstone season 4, it is available to watch on Paramount Network, Philo, fuboTV, and Sling.
