The series is developed by Eliza Clark based on a book by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra of the exact name. Y: The Last Man was launched from September 3, 2021, to November 1, 2021, on FX on Hulu.
Upon release, it received mixed responses from critics and was eventually removed by FX on Hulu in October 2021. Series creator Eliza Clark was disappointed that the series was dismissed. Clark initially planned for about five seasons but it seems like the story has come to an end.
Here’s what you need to know about season 2 of Y: The Last Man
Is Season 2 of Y: The Last Man Season 2 Renewed?
Unfortunately, no. The series is not coming back with a second run as FX on Hulu officially canceled Y: The Last Man after the first season in October 2021.
For those of you who have been asking me: we tried really hard to get another platform to pick up season 2 of Y. But sadly, it doesn't look like it's going to happen. It is always incredibly difficult to move a show, and in recent years, it has only gotten harder. (thread)

However, all hope is not lost because the series has a chance of coming back if it is picked by streaming platforms like Amazon or Netflix. So fingers crossed!
Y: The Last Man Season 2 Release Date
As mentioned earlier, the show is canceled and it’s unlikely that a second season will happen unless it is picked by someone.
Clark previously said she’d want the show to last “about five seasons.” It also appeared that FX clearly appreciated her season 2 pitch, but things didn’t work out as they should because of the pandemic. “When I came on, COVID hit, and we had to push back another five months,” she explained to TV Insider. “FX was in an unfortunate position of having to make a decision about [renewing] the show without a lot of data. I don’t think it was a creative decision, and FX really liked our Season 2 pitch, so I am optimistic about our ability to find another home for the show. There’s so much more story to tell.”

Y: The Last Man Season 2 Plot: What can be expected?
If the show hadn’t been canceled, things would’ve gotten much better and had more quirkiness. “The second season is primed to be extremely fun and propulsive,” Clark stated. “So much of the first season is about who these people are going to become. By the end of the first 10 episodes, they’re becoming something new and next season is about stepping into those personas.”
She continued: “There’s the promise of potentially reuniting Yorick and Beth. But what’s exciting is that all these characters on different tracks now know about Yorick’s survival. The noose is tightening around his neck and he, 355, and Allison have to race to the genetics lab in San Francisco while all these forces are after him.”
It’s really a bummer that Y: The Last Man was called off after the first season. More importantly, when the story was just about to get better in season 2.
