Vacation Friends features John Cena, Lil Rel Howery, Yvonne Orji, and Meredith Hagner in the lead. It centers around the story of a couple, Emily and Marcus who are on a holiday in Mexico, when they become friends with Ron and Kyla, the wild and carefree couple. The two later show up at Emily and Marcus’s wedding ceremony without any formal invites, which leaves them furious. It is a buddy comedy movie, which made its first appearance on 27th August 2021 on streaming service, Hulu. The film has received a mixed bag of reviews from fans and critics alike.

Vacation Friends 2 (Honeymoon Friends): Is it in the Works? 

Yes, “Vacation Friends” sequel which is officially titled “Vacation House: Honeymoon Friends” is in the works!

Clay Tarver is onboard to pen the script and helm the upcoming movie.

In an interview with HollywoodReporter, Traver was asked about how he felt when he received the news about landing on a sequel. “Over the summer, I sort of got an idea that [a sequel] might be in the works just because they were so happy with [Vacation Friends],” Tarver shares. “And when it did so well, they just really wanted to tell everyone about it then. So it was a cool double-positive announcement to make, which I was really happy about.”

When asked about how the story is coming along, he said,  “I’m just getting going. I’m at the early stages, but I’m making some progress. I’d been thinking about it ever since I first had the inkling. So the last couple of months, I’ve really been starting to play around with stuff, but now is the time to really get to work. Thank you for reminding me.”

When is Vacation Friends 2 (Honeymoon Friends) getting released?

The sequel ‘Honeymoon Friends’ to Vacation Friends is still in its initial stages of production, which makes it difficult to anticipate its airing date. Nonetheless, it is safe to say that the follow-up will pick up from its current status and go into production in early or mid-2022. With that, the comedy series will possibly be out by the first quarter of 2023, at the least.

Although the movie is still a long way off, fans have a chance to catch up with the adventures and drama of its predecessor on Hulu. 

Part one of Vacation Friends had a run time of 103 minutes, so we expect a similar pattern in the sequel. However, hoping that Honeymoon friends do not push back its airing date, like its first installment. Due to a halt in the production worldwide Vacation Friends 1’s filming was delayed.

What is the plot of Vacation Friends 2?

Neither the producers nor the creators have given away much about the plot of Honeymoon friends so far but it’s evident that it is going to be a wild honeymoon trip. Aside from that it is expected to continue the story of the first part with Emily, Marcus, Ron, and Kyla in the spotlight. The first chapter ended with Ron and Kyla tying the knots in Mexico and later, Emily and Marcus joining the two for a second vacation. It would be entertaining to see the squad bringing in a fresh storyline with their old personality traits.

Who is in the Cast of Vacation Friends 2?

Although the cast of Honey friends is still under the wraps, still there is speculation that the original cast of Vacation friends is all set to return for its second part. John Cena will reprise his role as Ron, Kyla’s spouse. The actor has a host of releases lined up this year. It seems right to say that the WWF champion’s acting career is soaring. The sequel will bring into the fold Meredith Hagner as Kyla, the pregnant partner of Ron. 

The Get Out fame, Lil Rel Howery will also return to its role as Marcus while Yvonne Orji will take on the role of Emily. In addition to them, Emily’s family- Harold Conway (Robert Wisdom), Suzanne Conway (Lynn Whitfield), and Gabe Conway (Andrew Bachelor) will be also returning. 

Clay Tarver will return to his directorial role in Honeymoon Friends. While we have a sneak suspicion that Tavern will co-write the script of the sequel with Tom Mullen, Tim Mullen, John Francis Daley, and Jonathan Goldstein, but nothing is confirmed so far. 

Hulu will acquire the distribution rights of HoneymoonFriends and make things easier for the viewers worldwide.
