Toradora season 2: All you need to know

Toradora is a Japanese anime tv series. It has a mixture of rom-com and slice of life. Similar to other anime, Toradora is also adapted on LN penned and illustrated by Japanese author Yuyuko Takemiya with Yasu. This anime series is a manga adaptation created by Zekkyo and distributed by ASCII media works starting from July 27, 2007 and is still continuing.

It’s a little over twelve years since Toradora was released and fans have been patiently waiting for another season till now. The series was first launched in October 2008 and ended in March 2009. Not long after the series aired, it became a sensation. It was well-received by fans from across the globe. Moreover, it also served to be a profitable production for studio J.C. Staff.

An unexpected OVA episode landed just two years after the last episode of Toradora in December 2011. Nonetheless, despite fans’ huge requests for the second season of Toradora, the series OVA was the last scene fans got to see.

Is Season 2 of Toradora Confirmed?

Currently, J. C. Staff is yet to confirm or cancel the second series. It’s been many years and so far they haven’t formally mentioned anything about a second season or anything related to the anime series like a movie or a spinoff. Regardless, this does not mean that there aren’t any possibilities for a sequel to come out in the future. As long as it has many fans and followers, the makers will try to work things out, at least that’s what we all hope for.

Is Netflix planning to pick up the anime series for a second season?

We wish! As you know, the giant streamer decided to re-release all the 25 episodes of Toradora in 2020. This came as a surprise for many fans and many thought that Netflix is up to something and this piqued the curiosity of fans and soon started speculation that the streamer may be planning to pick up the series for a second season. Honestly, we are not sure yet but anything can happen.

Also given the fact that based on social media movements and search volumes, the anime series has managed to gain more new fans and followers and reached its popularity peak after it was re-released on Netflix. This further leads to the demand for a second season having massively increased. Thousands of fans are signing a petition for the series to return for another season run and this might seem like a perfect opportunity for Netflix to pick up the anime series as an original series.

As of May 2022, there still hasn’t been any announcement from the studio. It may be that the anime series is not returning with the second season but all hope is not lost.

The upcoming cast of Toradora Season 2: Who will be in it?

If the anime decides to return for a second season it’s guaranteed that the main characters will also return which includes Ryuji Takasu, the main protagonist voiced by Junji Majima, Taiga Aisaka, the female lead character voiced by Rie Kugimiya, Minori Kushieda (Taiga’s friend) voiced by Yui Horie, Yusaku Kitamura voiced by Hirofumi Nojima, and Ami Kawashima voiced by Eri Kitamura.

Additionally, we also expect to see the side characters shown in the last season appear in the upcoming series and as for new characters, it’s unclear but if it’s relevant for the story, they’ll be introduced in the possible upcoming season.

Toradora Season 2 Release Date: When will it happen?

There’s not a single word from the makers and the release date is a far cry but if we have to pick a date, it’s most likely that the second season will arrive by the end of 2022 and expect some sort of official announcement by 2022.

Toradora Season 2 plot: What to expect from the plot?

Many have expressed their disappointment that the Light Novel has a better ending than the anime and it seems like the story from the first season somewhat feels incomplete.

If the series returns with a second season, it will mainly focus on the adult life of Taiga and Ryuuji and their relationship. We can expect to see their marriage and the prospect of the couple. This fan theory may or not be true but we sure do hope that we get a second season and give Taiga and Ryuuji the happy ending that they deserve.
