Created and written by Joel Fields, The Patient is an American thriller TV series. Chris Long, Caroline Moore, Victor Hsu, and Steve Carell are the other executive producers. The series aired on FX on Hulu on August 30, 2022. There’s been a lot of hype around the premiere of the second season. But the major question is: The Patient was marked as a limited series – so, will there be a season 2?
Producer Joel Fields put a lid on it, telling USA Today, “We’re done after this… That’s The Patient, and we hope you enjoyed it. But we’re not done making shows, so we’re just trying to figure out what to do next.”
Star Domhnall Gleeson agrees that there’s not really anywhere else to go. He told Decider, “When I read it, I was like, ‘That is the only way this series can end. That is the most perfect.’ I thought they just stuck the landing… And I thought they found a way to finish something which for a while, I was like, ‘I don’t know what the way to do this is.'”
Will The Patient season 2 be renewed or not?
It’s unlikely that The Patient will be back for the second season. The plot of the show indeed was dynamic. The entire serial killer patient stuff and the therapist Alan. According to Deadline, The Patient was initially acquired by FX in October 2021 as a limited series. Let’s see what happens next.

The promo features Steve Carroll as the therapist Alan Staruss. It highlights that the series is a brain-fidgeting psychological thriller about a therapist who’s held prisoner by Sam Fortner (a patient). Sam is the serial killer.
The Patient ratings & reviews: Is the show worth watching?
On IMDb, The Patient holds an IMDb rating of 7.2 out of 10. While on Rotten Tomatoes, the series holds an 85% Tomatometer rating.
The website’s critics’ consensus is, “While The Patient might test viewers’ patience by overextending its killer conceit, the arguably career-best work by Domhnall Gleeson and Steve Carell make this therapy session worth eavesdropping on.” On Metacritic, based on 30 reviews, the series was rated favourable.
