The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4: All You Need To Know

The much-needed fourth season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was renewed by Amazon Prime on December 12, 2019, not too long after the third season.  The fourth installment planned to commence filming in late 2020 but got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it began in early 2021 and finished filming at the end of summer 2021, it’s just a few months away till it finally hit our screens.

The series creator and executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino in excitement provided the update to fans who have been patiently waiting for an official announcement.

“We were thrilled to hear that for the fourth time, we do not have to pack up and vacate the premises,” she said. “We’d like to thank Amazon for all their faith and support, their partnership and enthusiasm, and for letting us hang with our favorite people, the cast and crew of Maisel, for a little while longer.”

With that said, fans need to wait just a little bit more. Meanwhile, we’ll fill you up with the details down below.

When does season four of  The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel premiere?

Filming wrapped officially this summer, and the new episodes will arrive in early 2022 as hinted by Michael Zegen during a press event in New York.

As of now, Amazon Prime Video has yet to provide an official release date but we’ll update this section over time when they do.

The upcoming cast of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4

We can expect to see the main protagonist Rachel Brosnahan (as Miriam Maisel) in the much-awaited upcoming season. Joining her are  Alex Borstein (as Susie Myerson), Michael Zegen (as Joel Maisel), Marin Hinkle (as Rose Weissman), Tony Shalhoub (as Abraham “Abe” Weissman), Kevin Pollak (as Moishe Maisel) Caroline Aaron (as Shirley Maisel), and Jane Lynch (as Sophie Lennon).

Additionally, we have new characters confirmed in the next season. According to Variety, filmmaker and actor John Water will appear in a guest-starring role.

In June 2021, Jess Mariano (Gilmore Girls) and Milo Ventimiglia (This is Us) have been cast in an undisclosed role.

Just a few weeks after Milo Ventimiglia joined the cast,  Kelly Bishop is the latest addition to be cast in another guest-starring role.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4 plot: What to expect?

While plot details are scarce, the fourth season will likely pick up the story from where the previous season ended.

In the finale episode of the third season, Midge went on her first ever big tour as an opening act for artist Shy Baldwin. It was a huge thing for her but at the same time, it also involved changes in her life after Baldwin booted her off the tour.

So what is going to happen next? According to the series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, “We’re debating that now. We’re going to be telling the Maisel story slightly differently in the coming season.”

Whatever that means. Palladino also teased that the upcoming season is going to be “a little more open for us because we try to see a couple of seasons down the line…because everything affects everything, so we’re trying to figure that out now.”

Star Rachel Brosnahan discloses that she’s thrilled to watch her character developing in the next season. She said, “I think she definitely took some steps forward in season three, and then a couple of steps back. But I’m excited to see the ways in which her eyes keep getting opened to the world around her. There are so many new layers now, and I’m excited to see the world keep expanding.”

As much as she’s excited, we are too and we definitely cannot wait to see Rachel Brosnahan and her character as Miriam Maisel grow in the second season as she aims to take much bigger steps and take on challenges.
