The Laststarfigher 2: Is it Confirmed?

Shared on Twitch by Screenwriter Gary Whitta provided an update newest regarding the much-anticipated sequel to 1984 sci-fi film and said, “We’re very, very close. We’re basically on the one-yard line, and I believe it will happen.”

What emerges is a remarkable adventure as Alex is whisked away to a distant territory of space, where he must fight overpowering odds, jointly with his questions, as the mere chance of the universe is hanging on a thread.

Gary Whitta clarifies that Betuel contended it was performed right, like a great movie that maintained the original to stand out and that could bring out a whole age into the explorations of the characters , which was first seen decades ago.

He explains, “The idea was to pass the torch to a new generation of heroes in the same way that ‘The Force Awakens’ does,” Whitta says. We called it a ‘requeal’ — it’s a sequel, but it also kind of reboots and brings the franchise up to date.”

The Last Starfighter 2 Release Date: When is it?

The sequel is still very much in the early phases of development, and therefore, there is no confirmation when the sequel will arrive.

However, it is quite unfortunate that Gary Whitta didn’t provide any timeframe for the fans to expect this long-awaited seque. Hopefully, this announcement of a new potential sequel gets attention, and who knows, there might be gaming chances as well. Fingers crossed for now!

Coming back to the release date, since the work is in progress, it might take a while for fans to see the sequel, but one may expect the sequel to arrive sometime in 2023 at the earliest.

The Cast of The Last Starfighter 2

It’s unknown who’ll be cast in the upcoming sequel. Still, it’s highly expected the main lead Lance Guest who played Alex Rogan, aka Beta Alex in the original, might return, but this remains as speculation, but we cannot say that for the other cast as some of them haven’t been seen in the movies for years.

Here are the names of the cast members who were in the 1984 film:

Lance Guest (as Alex Rogan / Beta Alex)

Robert Preston (as Centauri)

Dan O’Herlihy (as Grig)

Catherine Mary Stewart (as Maggie Gordon)

Norman Snow (as Xur)

Kay E. Kuter (as Enduran)

Centauri (Robert Preston) was the man that enrolled Alex and got him into space. Preston was only seen in a few movies after being acted on The Last Starfigher and before his demise in 1987.

According to rumours, Norman Snow, who acted as Xur, has expressed his excitement and is looking forward to returning in the upcoming sequel, but so far, nothing is confirmed yet.

The Last Starfighter 2: Plot

Plot details remain as mysterious as ever! Since the sequel is in the development stages, it’s tough to predict what’ll happen in the next sequel and with little to no solid information thus far.

Thankfully, Betuel teased the sequel to be an enjoyable and fun-filled adventure as a standalone movie; he did disclose that a few of the cast from the 1984 movie will lead over.

“The leads are now parents and time has passed,” Betuel explained. “It’s not a remake. It’s going to continue the story. What’s changed is time itself, certainly as the video world and the alien world have continued to tick away. It’s not a time capsule of the ’80s by any means, we’re taking it to the next level. Passing the torch… or the joystick.”
