The Good Fight Season 7 Won’t Come: CBS has cancelled the show after 6 seasons

The husband and wife duo co-showrunners Robert and Michelle King verified that the sixth season of The Good Fight will be the program’s last. “We’ve loved fighting The Good Fight these last six seasons,” the Kings couple explained in a joint statement this May.

“To be able to tell stories about an upside-down world in real time has been a gift. And to have worked with these talented, brilliant, generous actors, writers and crew has been a blessing. Our hope-slash-scheme is to find ways to work with all of them again in the future.”

Ultimately, the couple decided to cease the tale with its sixth season, which is scheduled to premiere on September 8, 2022, on Paramount+. Michelle King disclosed to The Hollywood Reporter that they were concerned the show would “become repetitive” if they pushed to proceed with the tale of Diane (Christine Baranski).

“Thanks to the creative brilliance of Robert and Michelle King, The Good Fight has been a marquee series for Paramount+ and a huge source of personal pride for me and our studio,” David Stapf, head of CBS Studios, stated. “Robert and Michelle took the bones of their network hit, The Good Wife, which pushed creative boundaries, and transformed it into a signature streaming series. It is a series that taps into the zeitgeist of the nation’s mindset to artistically reveal the absurdity and anxiety of a nation in transition, both culturally and politically.”

For the Kings couple, the decision to end the program with its final ten-episode season is more or less about not wanting to “overstay your welcome,” said Robert King to Variety.

The couple showrunner pair wish to take “The Good Fight” out on a good note. The program made its debut in February 2017 as a spin-off to the popular CBS drama “The Good Wife” which aired from 2009 to 2016.

“We felt we could end the show with a pretty big bang,” Robert King stated. “That’s better than getting to the season where we’re struggling to find plot. We thought the sixth season could get us off the stage pretty grandly.”

Although it appears that co-showrunners duo are still determining the episodes for the upcoming season six, they earlier said they don’t expect a comeback from Julianna Marguiles, who featured in the prequel series, “The Good Wife.” Robert revealed to Deadline, “There’s one thing we should say, never say never but I don’t think so.”

“The Good Fight” stars Michael Boatman, Nyambi Nyambi, John Slattery, Sarah Steele, Charmaine Bingwa, Audra McDonald, and Andre Braugher and centers on Don Diane Lockhart after a monetary fraud shatters the reputation of her goddaughter Maia and results in losing her employment.

Season 6 and the final season of The Good Fight is presently in production in New York City, according to Deadline and is set to arrive on Thursday, September on Paramount+.
