Conceived by Carl Weber and adapted from his bestselling crime drama novel series, “The Family Business” was originally built as a standalone film franchise, being produced by BET as an 8-episode short series in 2018.

 

The series revolves around the kind and loving family known as the Duncans, who possesses and governs unique car dealerships in New York. It stars Ernie Hudson, Valarie Pettiford, Darrin Henson, Javicia Leslie, Sean Ringgold, Tami Roman, Miguel A. Núñez Jr., Arrington Foster, Dylan Weber, Emilio Rivera, Clifton Powell, KJ Smith, Yadi Valerio, Brely Evans, and Ben Stephens.

 

The Family Business has so far launched a total of four seasons. The fourth was just released and fans are already anxious to know whether the show will be back with more seasons of this family drama in the future.

Will There Be a Season 5 of The Family Business?

 

As of now, there’s no official announcement or update regarding the renewal or cancellation of the fifth season of The Family Business. It may probably take a while for the creators to make any announcements about a possible fifth season because season four was just released and also taking into account the ratings and viewership. Usually, if a season performs poorly the network cancels that particular show but at the same time even if a show does do well, a good rating is not enough to save it. So in short it all depends on the executives of BET+ whether they would want to order season 5 of The Family Business or not.

The Family Business Season 5 Release Date: When is it?

 

The first season of The Family Business was released on November 13, 2018. The second season was divided into two parts. The first part of season two was launched on July 2, 2020, while the second part of season two premiered on December 31, 2020. The third season aired on October 12, 2021. The fourth season arrived on September 1, 2022. 

 

As of November 2022, The Family Business has not been renewed yet for a fifth installment. Considering the success of the series, it’s highly likely that BET will bestow the green signal sometime soon. Moreover, it’s not even been a month since the fourth season came to a close. Which was on October 27, 2022. So fans shouldn’t worry too much and wait patiently for further updates.

Coming back to the release date, due to an extreme lack of information nothing is revealed for now but if we have to predict when the new season will arrive, it will probably be out sometime in mid or late 2023. So stay tuned for more information!

  • Kimberly Patterson will portray Ruby 

  • Michael Jai White plays Vegas Duncan

 

Brely Evans and Ben Stephens who play the characters of Sonya Duncan and Curtis Duncan were promoted to series regulars in the fourth season so we expect them to return in season five as well. 

 

What Can We Expect From The Storyline Of The Family Business Season 5?

 

Nothing is known when it comes to the plot details for season five of The Family Business as it has not been revealed yet. It’s mainly because the fourth season just started airing, it’s extremely difficult to foresee the storyline. But we do know that the story will resume from where it was left off. This means if the fourth season’s finale ends on a cliffhanger, it leaves the door open to continue the story in the next chapter. So fingers crossed that we get a new season.
