Will there be a Season 4 of Succession?

Yes, the series is returning for a fourth run. In October 2021, HBO formally greenlit the series for a fourth season.

It was confirmed on June 27, 2022, that the series has begun production. Great news for the fans who are patiently awaiting the new season as it looks like the series could arrive at any time although it might probably take a while.

Succession Season 4 Release Date: When is it?

Although the series was officially renewed for a fourth installment, HBO has not provided a specific air date. However, we do know that the production is taking place at the moment. If we do the calculation,  it takes about 6 to 8 months for pre-production and post-production so the best guess we can make is mid-2023. It’s affirmed that the fourth season will consist of 10 episodes.

On May 8, 2022, series creator Jesse Armstrong has also confirmed that the scripts for season 4 are almost completed. So by now, we assume that the script is already done since production is underway.

Upon the arrival of the renewal announcement, Francesca Orsi, an executive at HBO said, “With each season of Succession, Jesse Armstrong has continued to surpass our wildest expectations, pulling us deeper into the Roy family’s inner sanctum with indelible wit, humanity, and precision. This season is undoubtedly no exception, and we couldn’t be more excited for all that’s in store in this next season ahead.”

Also, as per the speculations, it appears that season 4 will be the final season of ‘Succession’. But this is yet to be confirmed by the showrunners.

Succession Season 4 Plot: Storyline Expectations

The official synopsis for the fourth season of Succession reads: “The sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.”

After an explosive finale in the last season, spectators were left with some questions, and hopefully, we get answers in the next season as spectators are anxious to find out whether the Waystar RoyCo is being sold and one thing that has been bugging us is, who notified Logan Roy that the Roy family were on their to rage the kingdom to dethrone the king? It’s most likely that season 4 will jump into these matters.

On a side note, season 4 may very well be the final season of the series. “I think the maximum would be five seasons but possibly more like four,” author Georgia Pritchett revealed to The Sunday Times in June 2021. “At this point [Armstrong] is saying only one more [season]. But that happens every time. We’ve got a good end in sight.”

Stay tuned!
