Starfield: Everything we know so far

Starfield, the long-awaited Bethesda’s first original RPG in 25 years, is coming in 2022 and is set in outer space.

Although Starfield details remain pretty scarce at the moment thanks to the E3 2021 trailer we finally have an idea about what the game is going to be like. The RPG will let players experience what it’s like in the future and allow them to explore outer space. According to Todd Howard, the players will take part in an epic about “hope and humanity” and described it as “like Skyrim in space.”

For players to get their hands on this game will probably take a while since the release date is still far away from now. But regardless of the long wait, there’s nothing more thrilling than getting your hands on a new game that will allow you to be in outer space experiencing a star gazing. Starfield release date

During E3 2021, Bethesda confirmed that the much awaited Starfield will be released on November 11, 2022. It will be accessible to play on PC and Xbox.

What’s even more interesting is that Starfield will be exclusively available on Xbox/PC. Some fans were a little disappointed because the Xbox spokesperson didn’t mention anything about a PS5 release.

Bethesda’s Pete Hines addressed the issue about the Xbox console during an interview with GameSpot, to which he personally offered an apology and explained that he gets it and completely understands if people are unhappy or disappointed.

He said, “Sorry, all I can really say is, ‘I apologize,’ because I’m certain that’s frustrating to folks, but there’s not a whole lot I can do about it.”

Starfield trailer

The official Starfield trailer was revealed at E3 2021. It revolves around an astronaut as they pass through a ship and are ready to blast off. After they arrive in the compartment, they hand down their firearm and the trailer zooms in on a ledge labelled Stow 84S with a white case captioned as Property of Constellation. The trailer then zooms in on a picture pasted on a wall. It’s unclear what was in the picture. The astronaut moves back to their seat, a somebody from an organisation called Constellation Radios in and confirms the astronaut for their take off.

The trailer narrates, “They say the wonder is not that the field of stars is so vast but that we have measured it. You’re part of Constellation now. Part of our family. What you found is the key to unlocking everything. This is all we’ve been working towards. We’ve come to the beginning of humanity’s final journey. That’s why we’re here – to discover what’s out there.”

Starfield Gameplay: What to expect?

Starfield gameplay hasn’t been revealed yet, but some features have been officially confirmed. In the official Starfield webpage, it says that you’ll be able to “create any character you want and explore with unparalleled freedom.”

Todd Howard, in an interview with Launcher, said that you’ll also be able to select your character’s background and revealed customizations can influence how your character’s tale progresses.

Howard has also described Starfield as “Skyrim in space” and Bethesda Managing Director Ashley Cheng called it a “Han Solo simulator” where players would be able to “get in a ship, explore the galaxy,” and “do fun stuff.”

In a Telegraph interview with Howard, he confirmed that Starfield will be playable in first and third-person perspectives.

“We like that style of gameplay,” Howard said. “First-person for us is still our prime way of playing. So you can see the world and touch all those things.”

“We like to put you in a world where we’re not dragging you by the nose and saying you must do x, y, and z, and that it’s okay for you want to test the [game’s boundaries],” Howard explained.

He added, You know, can I read this book? Can I pick this up? Can I do this? What if I do this?.. And the game is saying ‘yes’ a lot.”

As of now, the Starfield release date is still a year to go and who knows there might be changes sooner or later but we hope not but definitely, we’ll hear and see more about the unveiling of Starfield as we get nearer. We’ll keep you updated if more Starfield details come out.
