Rick and Morty Season 6: Everything You Need To Know

Rick and Morty season 6 has been formally declared. Yep, you heard it right. It’s finally happening.

Rick and Morty is an American adult animated sci-fi series developed by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. The series revolves around the misfortunes of pessimistic wild scientist Rick Sanchez and his kind-hearted, but miserable grandson named Morty Smith, who divide their period between family life and interdimensional explorations.

The viciousness of the script makes the spectators think and it heightens their interest in their cartoon-watching moment. Fans adore Rick and Morty because it stuns them and compels them to think about complicated problems. Almost all of the events have some kind of social critique on real-life topics, which the audience enjoy.

While it’s soon to predict for the next narrative of the adult animated sitcom, there’s a lot to speculate until we finally get to see the next adventures of Rick and Morty and their disastrous life.

If you’re curious to know what the next season will unfold, make sure to read the article till the end. Without further ado, let’s delve into details.

Rick and Morty Season 6 Release Date: When Will It Premiere?

The fourth season of Rick and Morty was aired on June 20, 2021 and lasted till September, 5, 2021 comprising 10 episodes.

If we look at the timeline releases of all the seasons, each season has a gap of more than a year but not going beyond that but at the same time, we can’t foretell if the production would go smoothly as the Covid-19 pandemic still has a huge impact on the entertainment industry. More or less, the sixth season is coming soon and it points to a mid-2022 release.

In 2020, executive producer Dan Harmon disclosed at the Adult Swim Con event that production for the sixth and seventh season has commenced. Harmon said, “We’ve got all these writers out to script season 6, and we’ve spent the last couple of months with new writers talking about season 6.”

He continued: “It’s a crazy situation to be in because this show has notoriously kept everyone behind schedule. The artists have always been waiting for scripts. And now, finally, we’re trying to change that game and have them always have something to draw, while we move ahead. And so we’re there now.”

Meanwhile, in August 2021 author Cody Ziglar updated the fans on his Twitter handle that things have completed on the seventh season, implying that at least a portion of Ricky and Morty’s sixth season was still in the works.

Series Producer Scott Marder has also provided an update on season 6 during the Interdimensional RSS podcast. He stated, “We’re towards the end of writing season 7 right now. We’ve really gotten the show moving, but that’s to say season 6 is animating, everything’s in the process.”

Voice actor of Jerry, Chris Parnell said in 2020 that “There’s going to be less of a wait,” pointing that there won’t be a long wait like the previous seasons.

With that said, fans can expect to see the new episodes by mid-2022.

Rick and Morty Season 6 Cast & Plot Expectations

No matter which dimension we might be in, Rick and Morty just doesn’t work without Rick and Morty. That means Justin Roiland will inevitably reprise the two lead roles once again in season 6, but who will join him?

The central characters of Rick and Morty are expected to return in the next season which includes Justin Roilan (as Ricky and Morty), Chris Parbell (as Jerry), Sarah Chalke (as Beth), and Spencer Grammer (as Summer Smith).

As for the plot, it’s not been revealed yet and at the same time, it’s extremely hard to predict because of the show’s episodic nature.

However, Fans have been anticipating the return of the infamous character ‘Evil Morty’, who has been missing in action ever since his unforgettable appearance in season 3, when he was supposedly appointed President of the Citadel of Ricks.

Evil Morty has left quite an impression on many fans and they are hoping to see him return in the next season. But as of now, nothing is confirmed and before we assume any further, let’s wait for more official updates from the creators.
