Ratched Season 2: Release Date, Cast, and Plot

Ratched is a 2020 physiological thriller that features Sarah Paulson in the lead. It describes the events relating to the protagonist Nurse Mildred Ratched’s early life and serves as a prequel to the 1975 flick, One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest. The latter is itself draws inspiration from a 1962 Ken Kesey novel. Ratched was a commercial and critical success at the global box office. The series got renewed for a second installment in 2017, but the details about the sequel remain in the dark. However, we have put together every available piece of information regarding the follow-up to Ratched for the ardent fans.

Ratched Season 2: Release date

There is no official statement confirming the release date of Ratched season two yet. Nonetheless, reports hint that the creative crew has started brainstorming ideas for the series in January 2021. So the work on the sequel has already commenced. However, we have no news about its filming schedule so far either from the creators or cast. But keeping in mind the above information, our best guess is that Ratched season two will hit the streaming platform sometime in 2022, at the best. Since the series will also be put to post-production, this assumption is relevant.

Ratched Season one comprised 8 episodes with a runtime of 45-62 minutes. We expect that the sequel will stick to a similar runtime and number of episodes.

What to expect from the Plot of Ratched Season 3?

The first part of Ratched ended with several loose strings hanging. With Mildred Ratched confessing her love to Gwendolyn Briggs, and Edmund revealing his dark past. Season one witnessed the gruesome side of Edmund, the foster brother of Ratched. Following a dust-off, he disclosed his involvement in the assassination of seven nurses in California to Ratched. The story has taken a two-year time leap, and it seems that Ratched’s life is in great danger. Apart from that, season two is likely to explore the romantic bonds between the female lead and Briggs. But this is not the mere love relationship that the audience wants to see. Charlotte saved Edmund’s life in a way by helping him flee from the Lucia State Hospital. So, the viewers also expect to see more of their story as a pair. Ratched’s character may also be taking the fans on a thrilling journey, with her repressed emotions coming out and her being victimized by the patriarch structure in the society.

It would be fascinating to know the direction in which the story unfolds after the revelations and shocks of season one.

Who is in the Cast of Ratched Season two?

Currently, there is no cast information available for Ratched season two. But it is safe to say that the original cast of Ratched will return for the follow-up. Sarah Paulson taking center stage in the series. Sarah will reprise her role as Nurse Mildred Ratched. Other returning casts include Finn Wittrock as Edmund Tolleson, an inmate at Lucia State Hospital, Vincent D’Onofrio as Governor George Willburn, the governor of California, Cynthia Nixon as Gwendolyn Briggs, Judy Davis as Nurse Betsy Bucket, Sophie Okonedo as Charlotte Wells, a patient with multiple personality disorders, Amanda Plummer as Louise, a motel manager, and Brandon Flynn as Henry Osgood, a psychotic killer.

But we would miss some of the stellar cast of season one including Sharon Stone as Lenore Osgood, Jon Jon Briones as Dr. Richard Hanover / Dr. Manuel Bañaga, the director of Lucia State Hospital, Corey Stoll as Charles Wainwright, Alice Englert as Nurse Dolly, Charlie Carver as Huck Finnigan and

Jermaine Williams as Harold. So its is not likely that these characters will make a comeback to the screens as they are all dead by the end of season one.

Based on where the story heads, new characters may appear, however, nothing is yet known about the additions to the cast. This implies that we have to wait for some time to get more specifics about the same.
