Rafael Castillo, Tristan Mack Wilds, and Chloe Bailey have joined the cast of Tina Gordon’s upcoming music competition ‘Praise This.’
‘Praise This’ is about youth choirs coming together as they participate in a music competition. Production commenced in Atlanta this June. Gordon wrote the latest draft of the screenplay, which was inspired by an original notion by ‘The Story Company.’ Initial drafts were jotted down by Camilla Blackett and Brandon Broussard, Hudson Obayuwana, and Jana Savage.
Rafael Castillo is a Dominican-American actor, who is widely known for his role as Mo Amer in Netflix hit series ‘Mo.’ The athlete turned actor has been gaining quite a reputation after he changed his career to acting. For a newcomer to the entertainment industry, he has landed a role starring opposite Burt Reynolds in 2017 “Miami Love Affair” and also got himself a role on “The Quad and Black Lightning” Currently, he was four new projects slated for release in 2023 including “Cinnamon” with Damon Wayans and “Praise This” with Chloe Bailey and Tristan Mack Wilds.
Castillo in one of his interviews talked about how he turned to acting. He said, “December 15th, 2015 was the first time I ever took an acting class. But the entire year was a battle. I had just come home from playing college ball and kinda fell into a deep depression when I realised everything I had worked for just ended like that. All until my best friend told me that there was this acting school that gave you your first class free. He asked if I wanted to go with him because he was interested in pursuing it, I went along and man… I fell in love that day.”
Tristan Mack Wilds is half–Afro-Dominican American actor who will be seen alongside Castillo in the upcoming Universal Pictures’ movie ‘Praise This.’
Wilds current works include in the Apple TV plus series ‘Swagger.’ Some of his work include ‘Miracle’s Boys,’ HBO hit series ‘The Wire,’ ‘Half Nelson,’ ‘The Secret Life of Bees,’ and ‘Red Tails.’
As for Chloe Bailey, she is an actress, singer/songwriter and record producer. Bailey is popularly known as a member of sister group Chloe x Halle signed to Parkwood Entertainment Company which is also home to Beyonce. Her most recent work was when she appeared alongside Yara Shahidi on Freeform popular show Grown-ish. Bailey’s next project includes ‘The Georgetown Project’ in which she will star opposite Russell Crowe and Ryan Simpkins.
The film is scheduled to release in 2023. The official release date is yet to be announced.
