Queendom Season 2 is Happening! Release Date, Cast, and Plot

Queendom is a South Korean reality television show that premiered on Mnet on August 29, 2019, and was completed on October 31, 2019, with each episode airing every Thursday at 9:20 PM (KST).

 

The program is presented by Lee Da-hee along with Jang Sung-kyu. In the first season it featured some of the famous K-pop stars in the industry like Park Bom, AOA, Mamamoo, Lovelyz, Oh My Girl, and (G)I-DLE. It has so far produced a total of 10 episodes with episodes one to nine running for 90 minutes and 150 minutes for the tenth episode.

 

In the previous episode of Mnet’s Queendom reality show, the four-member girl group Mamamoo secured the first position, while the second position was secured by Oh My Girl.

Release Date of Queendom Season 2: When Is It?

 

With the success of the first season, Mnet decided to bring back the program for another season. 

 

Queendom season 2 is said to be one of the biggest new projects from Mnet that is popularly known for its distinct yet outstanding competition shows. The first season of Queendom released in 2019 included a series of girl groups namely AOA, MAMAMOO, Lovelyz, Oh My Girl, (G)I-DLE and Park Bom, a soloist and former member of 2NE1 who also joined in the fierce competition. 

 

Coming back to the official release date, it’s finally arriving on March 31, 2022 at 21:20 (KST) (17:50 IST)

 

Are The Cast for Queendom Season 2 Confirmed?

 

On February 21, 2022, Mnet published the entire lineup of the artists that are competing for Queendom season 2. Cosmic Girls, Brave Girls, LOONA, Kep1er, Hyolyn, and VIVIZ are the five K-pop stars that will be participating in the upcoming series.

  • LOONA

 

LOONA is a girl group consisting of twelve members in total. In 2021, LOONA bagged a Golden Disc Awards for the category of Next Generation Award. JinSoul, Kim Lip, Choerry, Yves, Chuu, HaSeul, Go Won, YeoJin, ViVi, HeeJin, Olivia Hye, and HyunJin, will be participating in the upcoming Mnet’s Queendom season 2.

 

  • VIVIZ

 

VIVIZ is a newly formed girl group consisting of Umji, SinB, and Eunha who are former members of the popular girl group known as Gfriend. They made their debut in 2022 itself and released an extended version of Beam of Prison and song track Bop Bop.

 

  • WJSN (COSMIC GIRLS)

 

WJSN or popularly known as Cosmic Girls who made their debut in 2016 has 13 members captioning Bona, Exy, Soobin, Luda, Yeoreum, Dayoung,Dawon, Eunseo, Seola, Xuanyi, Cheng Xiao, Meiqi, and Yeonjung will be competing in the upcoming season 2 of Mnet.

  • BRAVE GIRLS

 

The four-member girl group was considered as 2021’s viral K-pop girl group. Brave Girls will be participating in Mnet’s Queendom season 2 lineup. The group consists of Eunji, Minyoung, Yuna, and Yujeong and launched their final repackaged album titled “We Ride” last August.

 

  • KEP1ER

 

KEP1ER was formed from one of Mnet’s reality survival series known as “Girls Planet 999.”  The nine member group, namely Kang Yeseo, Kim Chaehyun, Hikaru Ezaki, Huening Bahiyyih, Kim Daeyeon, Choi Yujin, Mashiro Sakamoto, and Shen Xiaoting, will be joining season 2 of Queendom.

 

  • HYOLYN

 

Hyolyn whose real name is Kim Hyo-jung, is a soloist and a former member of Sistar will compete in Queendom season 2.

 

The Plot for Queendom Season 2

 

The reality series is a fierce battle between six popular girl groups to determine who the real winner is when all six of them launch their singles at the exact time. 

 

The show would go on for about ten weeks. The previous season went on from August 29 to October 31, 2019, and featured three preliminary acts and one live comeback performance from each participant. The singles released by each group or a soloist will be evaluated based on the digital sales and live votes for the comeback performances on the last episode, with the entire accumulated scores from the three preliminary acts will then determine the ultimate winner.
