Created and penned by Craig Pearce, and directed by Danny Boyle, “Pistol” is a biopic miniseries that was declared back in January 2021. The series was launched on FX on Hulu on May 31, 2022. It features Toby Wallace, Anson Boon, Louis Partridge, Jacob Slater, Christian Lees, Daniel Clace, Dylan Llewellyn, Sydney Chandler, Emma Appleton, Maisie Williams, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and Talulah Riley.
Upon release, the series received mainly negative reviews from critics but at the same time, it was popular among the viewers who are now wondering if ‘Pistol’ will return with a second season. Here’s everything we know about season 2 of Pistol.
About the show Pistol
Conceived as a miniseries, ‘Pistol’ is heavily inspired by a memoir by Steve Jones titled “Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol” which was published in 2017. Pistol showcases of the band in the 70s and the emergence of the punk rock revolution.
The official synopsis for Pistol reads:
“Pistol is a six-episode limited series about a rock and roll revolution. The furious, raging storm at the center of this revolution are the Sex Pistols — and at the center of this series is Sex Pistols’ founding member and guitarist, Steve Jones. Jones’ hilarious, emotional and at times heart-breaking journey guides us through a kaleidoscopic telling of three of the most epic, chaotic and mucus-spattered years in the history of music. Based on Jones’ memoir Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol, this is the story of a band of spotty, noisy, working-class kids with ‘no future, who shook the boring, corrupt Establishment to its core, threatened to bring down the government and changed music and culture forever.”
Will Pistol return with the 2nd Season?
As of now, it’s unlikely that a second season will happen since the series was conceived as a miniseries. But we can not assume things too soon as there’s been no update from the showrunners. The show has neither been canceled nor renewed. It entirely falls on FX whether to bring back the show for another run.
Pistol Season 2 Release Date: When is it?

What could happen in season 2 of Pistol?
Since it’s not certain whether there’ll be a second season, plot details are scarce and nothing has been revealed so far.
However, if the second season of Pistol happens, it will likely follow the death of Nancy Spungen and Sid’s overdose and how it led to the band’s dissolution. The band’s story which we didn’t see in the sixth episode will explore in season 2.
