Created by James Gunn for HBO Max, ‘Peacemaker’ is a recently launched American action black comedy superhero television series that was released on January 13, 2022. The series is based on the characters of DC’s comics and is the initial DC Extended Universe TV series and a spin-off from the movie ‘The Suicide Squad’ which premiered in 2021.

 

The series takes place after the occurrences of the film and continues to explore the adventure of Christopher Smith aka Peacemaker (John Cena). Its producers are Troll Court Ent. and The Safran Company in collaboration with Warner Bros., with James Gunn who serves as the showrunner.

 

This standalone sequel was so successful that it is no surprise that it has been given the green signal to continue the story further. Here’s everything you need to know regarding the second season of Peacemaker.

 

Peacemaker Season 2 Release Date: When Will It Premiere?

 

On February 16, 2022, HBO Max officially declared the renewal of Peacemaker for a second season run. This announcement came before the first season’s finale which was released on February 17. 

 

“Creating Peacemaker has been one of the true highlights of my life, both professionally and otherwise, with John Cena and the incredible creative team around me, as well as our partners at HBO Max,” Gunn explained in a statement via HBO Max. “To have something we all love so much be loved by the audience in turn has been a wonderful experience. I can’t wait for folks to see where Team Peacemaker goes in Season Two! “

 

Gunn also previously tweeted that he had plans for a possible second season. When he was asked about the characters he did not disclose any information, afterwards, he responded that it didn’t certainly indicate that it was happening for sure.

 

The Cast of Peacemaker Season 2: Who Will Return?

 

We can expect the central characters to return in the second season which includes–

 

  • John Cena will be playing the role of Christopher Smith aka Peacemaker

  • Freddie Stroma will portray Adrian Chase aka Vigilante

  • Danielle Brooks will return as Leota Adebayo

  • Steve Agee will play the role of John Economos

  • Jennifer Holland will be seen portraying Emilia Harcourt

 

It’s also possible that a new cast will be introduced in the next season as some of the characters like Clemson Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji) and Auggie Smith aka White Dragon (Robert Patrick) were killed off in the first season. So it’s likely these two won’t be returning. 

 

Peacemaker Season 2 Plot: What To Expect?

 

Plot details are kept secret but showrunner Gunn indicates that he’s still trying to figure out the details and wouldn’t like to concentrate on the script much, but more on the characters. So he probably knows how the story will begin and end for Peacemaker in the second season.

 

“The most important thing for me in the first season was who the Peacemaker was and where was he going—what was his personal journey? The Butterflies and the plot and all of that is secondary to who he was as a character and what his changes were, as well as the other characters and where they began and where they end, because they all have little changes for themselves—with the exception of Vigilante, who’s sort of a straight line the whole time,” Gunn revealed to Variety. “So I know where Peacemaker starts and where he ends, but I’m playing with other ideas around that and how that’s gonna play out.”
