Orange Is the New Black first dropped in 2013 on the streaming giant, Netflix. It is a television adaption of a 2010 memoir, Orange Is the New Black, by Piper Kerman. The comedy-drama series portrays the inside stories of inmate lives besides throwing light on other crucial aspects like prison privatization, corruption, guard brutality, and more. Due to its intriguing storyline and interesting characters, the series is one of the most-watched series of all time. The fact that the show had the longest run in the history of Netflix is a testimony to its popularity. From 2013 to 2019, the showrunners dropped one season on Netflix. But to the dismay of the fans, Orange is the New Black marked its end with its seventh installment. 

Although gossips hinted at the making and airing of an eighth season, still there is no confirmation about it. Sources claimed that the last season’s end left a clue for another season. Orange Is the New Black season 8: Release date

There were a couple of speculations about the airing of the season eighth of Orange Is the New Black. However, no official announcement backs up those assumptions. We are afraid that the series is on an infinite hiatus due to reasons unknown, so it is not easy to anticipate when the series will be out. 

As per the latest information, the series has been canceled after the seventh season. This means that season 7 marked the completion of the series and therefore, Orange is The New Black season 8 won’t happen.

Season one to seven included a total of 13 episodes with a runtime of 51-90 minutes. They are currently available for streaming on Netflix. 

Orange Is the New Black season 8: Plot

Season seven ended on an optimistic note, and with it, most of our favorite characters’ stories ended in one way or another. While some inmates are hopeful for a better and promising future, and others have not found a way to cope with the system and its incompetencies. Overall it was an engrossing series, and the viewers were content with the direction it took in the last part. 

It will be too soon to predict the storyline of this comedy-drama series. But it is a safe bet to say that the story will pick off from where it left (if season eight is happening). Thus, we can conclude that there is more to witness in Piper Chapman’s story and the intimate bond that shares with Alex Vause.

Orange Is the New Black season 8: Cast

If not all, most of the cast from season seven is expected to return for the eighth season if it ever happens. Having said that, Piper Chapman( Taylor Schilling) will take the front stage of the series. She will be joined by her girlfriend, Alex Vause (Laura Prepon). Besides, some of the recurring characters would be making a comeback. To name a few, 

 Natasha Lyonne will reprise her role as Nicky Nichols, prisoner, Uzo Aduba will return to his role Suzanne Warren, prisoner, Danielle Brooks as Tasha “Taystee” Jefferson, prisoner, Jackie Cruz as Marisol “Flaca” Gonzales.
