The limited Netflix original series Maid has received global acclamation due to its amazing and impactful storyline. Ever since the first season of Maid ended, fans have been hopeful for more seasons but the reality check is that it was a mini-series and it is highly probable that it won’t be renewed for another season. This is because the series wrapped up its storyline very efficiently without leaving any stones unturned. The story of Alex and Maddy found light which they had been hoping for since the start.
Maid is a Netflix original mini-series based on a memoir by Stephanie Land’s ‘Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive’. Created by Molly Smith Metzler, Maid was a super hit amongst the audience and received a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes approval with a decent rating of 8.3 out of 10 based on 42 voters. It also managed to grab a spot in the Top 5 Shows most-watched in many territories.
Will there be Maid season 2?
Unfortunately, for fans, this news has not yet been confirmed by Netflix or the showmakers. It is likely that the series will no longer be renewed because it has been over 2 years since it debuted on Netflix. Moreover, Maid is a limited mini-series. Chances are very less for it to be renewed for another season. It is a fact that mini-series always try to wrap up their plot and storyline within a single season and Maid was no different than this.
What was the plot of Maid Season 2?
If at all there is a Maid Season 2, then we can expect the introduction of new characters and leads in the show. But we highly doubt that any of these leads will live up to the character of Alex and the comfort and warmth it brought onto the screen.
Creator Molly Smith Metzler had earlier disclosed to Decider that if a new season is under wraps then she would not entirely focus the plot on Alex and Maddy. Instead, she would introduce a new lead character for the upcoming season.
Molly Smith Metzler said, “I will say this is such a labor of love, this show,” said Smith Metzler. I’m in love with all these characters, and I could write Alex for the rest of my life. You know, she’s just in my heart. But I do feel like we tell her story, so I’m not sure what it would look like.”
She continued, “I do think there’s a lot of maids out there, there’s a lot of domestic workers who are experiencing stories that are as bad, if not worse than, Stephanie Lands,” she explained. “I think it would be very exciting and a dream world to get to see a different maid’s story in another season. Someone from a totally different geographic area with totally different life experience and who is probably a mom.”
