Needless to say, it hasn’t been that long since the series last appeared on the screen but fans of this incredible show are already looking forward to a brand new season of NCIS.

However, CBS has yet to provide an announcement regarding whether or not the series would be renewed for the twentieth season. But viewers of the long-running series are optimistic that it would be greenlit for another season run. So, when can fans expect to see the new season? Read the article till the end to know more information.

Release date of NCIS Season 20: When is it?

As previously mentioned, The CBS is yet to renew the series for the next installment so there are not many details about it. Besides, the most recent season ended just days ago so we assume that it’ll take a while till we get any official announcements from the show makers or The CBS itself.

However, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the series decides to return with a new season following the immense success of the last season.

Coming back to the release date, if renewed by CBS, there is a high chance that the 20th season of NCIS would arrive in September of this year. As for the UK viewers, the series would soon have a home. It was confirmed by Disney Plys Star that it would be available to stream all the past episodes and the most recent season starting from this year onwards.

How many episodes will the 20th season of NCIS have?

It’s confirmed that the 20th season of NCIS will consist of only eighteen episodes as reported by Digital Spy that is compared to the older seasons which had twenty episodes. We suspect that it is mainly because of the emerging Covid-19 variant omicron that has impacted production schedules which have also caused delays for other TV shows and films.

The case of NCIS Season 20: Who will return?

Fans can expect most of the core characters who appeared in the nineteenth season to return and reprise their roles in the upcoming season as well that includes–

  • Mark Harmon will play Leroy Jethro Gibbs
  • David McCallum will be playing the role of Donald Mallard
  • Sean Murray may also return and play the role of Timothy McGee
  • Brian Dietzen will return as Jimmy Palmer
  • Rocky Carroll may also return and play her role of Leon Vance
  • Wilmer Valderrama will be back as Nick Torres
  • Diona Reasonover may also return to play as Kasie Hines

As per speculations, fans might get to see Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo in the upcoming season as they plan to make a comeback after Mark Harmon departed from the show. Fans are also waiting for Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs to make a return in Season 20 of NCIS.

The Plot of NCIS season 20: What to expect?

We highly suspect that the upcoming season would focus on Alden Parker who succeeded Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ seniority. In a chat with TV Insider, Gary Cole spoke about his role in the series, revealing:

“Parker isn’t overly chatty, but he is more verbal. He’s not as old school; he tries to get his hands on new tech gadgets and impress everybody. He’s trying to fit in with the rest of the team. Although he may be reluctant to voice it, he admires that Gibbs breaks rules. Parker bends them. We’ll see if it gets to the point of breaking.”

So are you excited about the new season? I hope you are. Stay tuned for more information about the 20th season of NCIS.
