What to expect from the plot?
The witches certainly wished to be left alone. They never orchestrated mass turmoil and even pledged not to damage. But those around them plainly could not come to terms with the fact that someone is more powerful than them. And so, they wished to take advantage of this.
So, to avoid persecution and massacre, the witches conceded to collaborate with the army. They didn’t want to combat but this was their only chance to evade harassment. In the army, they were averted, made fun of, and stressed. They were not accepted and repulsed but they were not going to give them independence either.
Some of the girls fall in love with the cadets, someone wants to substantiate that in battle there will be no one better than them. They want people to quit discerning only odd potentials in them because they are much deeper than this parameter.
