Luca 2: Plot
Luca’splot is set on Italian rivira between the 1950s and 1960s. The film revolves around the story of Luca Pagano, a sea monster boy who has the ability to assume human form on land. He explores the town with his new best friend, Alberto scorfano. The film draws inspiration from Casarosa’s childhood days in Genoa.
The film is a coming-of-age story of the sea monster who experiences an unforgettable summer that is filled with gelato, pasta, and never-ending scooter rides. However, Luca and his friend’s fun is short-lived when Luca’s reality of being a sea monster comes to light. The 95 minutes filmed showed Luca’s emotions, his friendship, and bravery. Luca rebels against his parents and travels to land to explore the life of a human. The ending of the film indicated that a new adventure awaits Luca once he begins attending school with Giulia. If Luca 2 happens then, it would show Luca’s life in school and also show Luca leaving the aquatic community and Alberto.

The film features Jacob Tremblay voicing Luca Paguro, Jack Dylan Grazer as Alberto Scorfano, Emma Berman as Giulia Marcovaldo and Saverio Raimondo as Ercole Visconti. The other cast includes Maya Rudolph as Daniela Paguro, Marco Baricelli as Massimo Marcovaldo and Peter Sohn as Ciccio.
For Luca 2, the voiceover cast is likely to make a comeback. The sequel, although, would be set outside Portorosso, and this indicates that other native Italian performers would join in the cast.
