HBO Max’s ballroom reality competition show has received praises from GLAAD for giving a stage to numerous artists from the queer community. The series debuted in March 2020 and rose to popularity quickly. It got renewed for a second installment in July 2020 that hit our screens in March 2021. Furthermore, creators greenlit the series for a third outing a week after its last season’s finale. And since then, fans of the series have been looking forward to seeing more of the beautiful world of ballroom. To the fans’ delight, the network has confirmed that the series will return in May 2022. Legendary Season three release date: When’s the premiere date?
The series outing third would release its initial three episodes on May 19, 2022, with weekly releases till June 9, 2022.
You can watch its future episodes on HBO Max. The season will stick to a ten-episode count similar to its last installment.
Legendary has gained attention from fans the world over for shedding light on the ballroom culture. As we progress to new levels, audiences get to know their favorite houses and performers better as they share their backstories on camera.
Legendary Season three plotline: What’s new this season?
Legendary features LGBT members from eight houses/groups, with each having five members and a House leader known as the mother/father of the House. The houses compete against each other in various categories, and the winning house gets prize money of US $ 1,00,000 qualifying round, battle round, vogue redemption round among others. Each category has a winner that is announced based on the scores of a guest panel.
The show attracts queer artists from different walks of life.

Legendary features Jameela Jamill, Law Roach, Leionmy Maldonado, and Megan Thee Stallion in every season. However, season three will see Keke Palmer replacing Megan Thee Stallion as the latter has reportedly left the series. Although it is not clear why Megan exited the show, it seemingly has much to do with her booming career. Megan’s appearance on the show has gained her immense recognition.
Season three will also feature a slew of guest judges including Issa Rae, Kelly Rowland, Leslie Jones, Anitta, Dominique Jackson, Bob The Drag Queen, and others.
Fans are already thrilled to see Aja from House of LaBeija in season three’s teaser trailer. Jelani LaBeija is also a confirmed entry to the series. We have a sneak suspicion that Lolita Balenciaga is likely to make an appearance in outing third. Apart from them, the House of Alpha Omega is ready to return with its father, Alvin Ailey, and a group member, Renaldo Alpha Omega and Adam Alpha Omega. With that, we expect many surprises our way in the upcoming season.
Dashaun Wesley will be back as the show’s host in season three. Wesley’s words, “ things will get bigger and wilder in season three” have already evoked excitement in fans.
