The agony of waiting for your favorite game to come out seems like forever and fans of this game would know exactly what I’m talking about. The third installment of Kingdom Hearts’ initial production declaration was made at E3 2013, but it took like six years till it finally hit our shelves in 2019. So when we witnessed the first time Sora awakened on the planet Quadratum during the twentieth Anniversary event of Kingdom Hearts, we immediately wanted to know the release date of Kingdom Hearts 4.

Luckily, all the game freaks who have been patiently waiting don’t need to wait long for the release of Kingdom Hearts 4 as many of them did with Kingdom Hearts 3.

In Square Enix’s declaration for Kingdom Hearts 4, Ichiro Hazama, the series brand manager stated, “We’d like to thank the fans for all of their support over the years, and we can’t wait for them to experience all that’s to come for Sora.”

Walt Disney Games director Nana Gadd added: “We’ve been honored to work with Tetsuya Nomura and his team for two decades to introduce these original stories of discovery, courage, and friendship.” Gadd continued: “This glimpse into Sora’s next adventure is just the beginning — we can’t wait to show more when the time is right.”

Kingdom Hearts 4 Release Date: When Is It Coming Out?

Currently, the release date for Kingdom Hearts 4 is yet to be announced but we expect that it’ll come out much sooner than we think.

We all know that Kingdom Hearts 3 took a long time in development. The game initially began development in 2005 not too long after KH2 was released. After keeping quiet for years, it was officially revealed at E3 2013 which then took about six years until Kingdom Hearts 3 was officially launched in 2019, fourteen years after it was made official.

Fortunately, this time we wouldn’t have to wait for more than a decade for KH4. It’s expected that the game would hit the shelves in mid-2023 or sometime in 2024.

Kingdom Hearts 4: Gameplay

Although there isn’t much information when it comes to the gameplay of KH4, however, we got a glimpse of the upcoming game at the 20th Anniversary of Kingdom Hearts as Square Enix released a short trailer on what to expect in KH4. In the short trailer which  you can watch below, we notice Sora wielding a Keyblade, battling with a giant, flogging between cars flying in the sky. It appears to be instant and fluid, with Sora able to move faster as battles in the air.

Kingdom Hearts 4: Platforms

It’s unclear for now since nothing is confirmed but Kingdom Hearts 4 is likely to release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. KH3 was later available on PC and also on Nintendo Switch through cloud gaming. As of now, it’s too soon to assume an initial launch outside of PlayStation/Xbox but it’s highly likely.
