Kakegurui is a Japanese manga series penned by Homura Kawamot and designed by Tōru Naomura. The anime series adaptation of the manga was launched by studio MAPPA, the first season was released on July 1, 2017, in Japan. A live-action movie adaptation was also launched in 2018.
This popular Japanese anime is based on a manga of the exact title and since it made its debut on Netflix it has garnered a lot of attention all over the world. Kakegurui anime series are produced and well regulated by MAPPA.
The series revolves around a bunch of high schoolers who are heavily indulged in gambling activities. Set in Hyakkaou Private Academy– an elite school in Japan where students are determined based on their gambling skills rather than on academic performances. A transfer student named Yumeko Jabami joined Hyakkaou Private Academy whose pretty, innocent face disguises a deep obsession with gambling. Yumeko’s sharp sense can point out through the complicated cheating techniques manipulated by the most skillful students to rig games just so they can win. The transfer student Yumeko declares to eliminate the lopsided system of the school simply for her fun and entertainment.
There’s no denying that Kakegurui is an amazing anime for those who like to gamble or everyone in general and fans can’t help but be eager to know if there’ll be a third season of Kakegurui. Let’s find out below.
Will there be a 3rd season of Kakegurui?
The fact that we still haven’t heard any news regarding the third season makes us feel doubtful. Needless to say, the prospect of the series seems highly unlikely although the second season ended on a cliffhanger and many fans have been looking forward to what will unfold in the next chapter but I guess we’ll never get to see it. For now, all we can do is wait for further announcements from the show makers.
The Release Date Of Kakegurui Season 3: When will it premiere?
By the time of this writing, the anime series have not been renewed or canceled. In fact, there is no information at all whether or not there will be a third season of Kakegurui.
The first season was launched from July 1, 2017, to September 23, 2017, consisting of twelve episodes. The second season titled “Kakegurui xx” premiered from January 8, 2019, to March 26, 2019, comprising a total of twelve episodes. If you look at the release timeline, it’s nearly three years but so far we haven’t heard a single word. By now, we would have gotten some sort of information but MAPPA hasn’t provided any. Although the series airs on Netflix, the streamer doesn’t hold any renewal rights, MAPPA has the full authority and the decision solely lies on MAPPA whether to continue the series or not.
So if the series returns with a new season, it is most likely that new episodes would arrive by the end of this year or sometime in 2023. However, it’s best to wait for an official announcement rather than making our own judgments.
The Cast of Kakegurui season 3: Who’s in it?
If a third season happens, be ready to see all the central characters that appeared on the previous two seasons of Kakegurui including–
- Yumeko Jabami, the main protagonist voiced by Saori Hayami
- Mary Saotome voiced by Minami Tanaka
- Ryouta Suzui voiced by Tatsuya Tokutake
- Midari Ikishima voiced by Mariya Ise
- Kirari Momobami voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro
The plot of Kakegurui Season 3: What to expect?
Plot details are not known. It could be because the third season of Kakegurui is yet to be renewed.
It’s difficult to predict what could possibly happen in the next chapter. The other reason why we haven’t heard any news would be due to lack of materials. But if you’re curious, you can always check the manga as the story itself is adapted from the manga. However, many are still waiting for the series to make its return as the excitement hits differently when watching an anime series rather than reading a manga. Nevertheless, MAPPA will decide if Kakegurui is deserving of a third season although it appears to have instantly risen to fame when the series landed on Netflix. Hopefully, we get an update soon. Fingers crossed! Stay tuned for more updates.
