Jumanji 4: Release date, cast, and more updates

Despite mixed critical reception for its 1995 Jumanji, the Jumanji franchise went on to release three gangbuster films from 2005-to 2019. Jumani: The Next Level which premiered in December 2019 grossed $800.1 million at the box office globally against a low budget of $125 million. Moreover, the franchise has earned a bounty of $2 billion at the box office worldwide. With that, a sequel to Jumanji: The Next Level is underway. Although there are no concrete specifics about the fourth Jumanji film, fans are still keen to know every possible detail about it. If you’re one of them, stick with us till the end as we share details about Jumanji 4 from its airing date to cast and much more.

When will Jumanji 4 be releasing?

Right now Jumanji 4 has not got any official date of release as it is still in the initial stages of production. Nonetheless, fans can hope to see its theatrical release by 2024, at the earliest.

Considering that December was a lucky month for the franchise’s previous two films, we expect the fourth part of Jumanji to stick to its December airing date.

You may watch Jumanji (1995), Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005), Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017), and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) on the streaming platform, Netflix.

What will the plot of Jumanji 4 be about?

Right now the plot of the fourth Jumanji franchise is under wraps. But the end of Jumanji: The Next Level sets up the stage for a sequel. It saw Spencer’s mother, and a repair mechanic getting trapped in Jumanji inadvertently, followed by the animals from the video game coming out in the real world. Keeping this conclusion in mind, there is a possibility that the avatar characters might escape the video game as well. However, this is just a hypothesis, because the conversations around the sequel are still ongoing. Hiram Garcia, the film’s co-producer has said in an interview that they are putting every effort to deliver the best story for the viewers. He says that the concern is to expand the current story while giving a continuation to the Jumanji franchise. Garcia added that this is their favorite project to work on, and the creative team has an exceptional vision for the fourth film. Additionally, the main cast is busy with several other projects, therefore it will take a while to bring them together for the sequel.

Kevin Hart said when asked about the fourth film that he has plans to return for the next film as there is no reason why he should not. Dwayne Johnson is also highly in demand at present, so the producers have to wait till Johnson meets his current work commitments.

With that said, we still have a lot to look forward to in Jumanji’s upcoming film.

Who will be returning in Jumanji 4?

It is very hard to think of the fourth Jumanji film without its core cast, which has played a huge part in its blockbuster success. We see Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as the avatar character, Dr. Xander “Smolder” Bravestone, while Jack Black will play the avatar Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon, followed by Kevin Hart as Franklin Mouse Finbar, and Karen Gillian as Ruby Roundhouse. Other likely returns include Nick Jonas as Jefferson “Seaplane” McDonough, Awkwafina as Ming Fleetfot, Rory McCann as Jurgen The Brutal, the villain of the previous film. Danny Glover’s character, Milo Walker chose to stay behind in the video game Cyclone, and protect the land. Thus, Glover is least likely t return for the sequel, while Danny DeVito who plays Spencer’s grandfather, Eddie may reunite with the original cast of the previous film for the sequel.

Alex Wolf, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman will reprise their previous roles as Spencer, Martha, Fridge, and Bethany respectively in the sequel. Although Colin Hanks’ character, Alex Vreeke was confirmed to be little more than a cameo, the creators may bring him into the folds for future scenes. Bebe Neuwirth’s guest appearance in the closing scenes as Nora Shepherd also makes us hopeful that Neuwirth will suit up for the next film as well.
