The new action-comedy would star Kate Beckinsale in the titular role. Beckinsale would be seen in her action form again with the release of Jolt. In the film, she would be playing the role of Lindy, a bouncer who has anger management issues. Beckinsale is well known for her roles in underworld films where she played the role of Selene.
Her role of Selene is based on the Marvel character in the underworld comics. Beckinsale was last seen in the action-drama film The Widow in 2019. In April 2019, Kate joined the team of Jolt along with Tanya Wexler. In July 2019, additional cast including Bobby Cannavale, Leverne Cox, Stanley Tucci, and Jai Courtney, were announced.

The plot for the film is likely to revolve around Lindy, whose boyfriend is murdered. Lindy takes it upon herself to investigate his death as she feels that the police is being lazy in finding the killer. Lindy has a temperamental issue which, if not controlled, turns her into a murderous stage. She has a vest that provides modified shock treatment which keeps her under control.
In times of need, when she needs answers to things, she lets her rage take control. In the trailer released, Beckinsale, who portrays the role of Lindy, is seen as a blonde. The trailer shows her living an everyday life by controlling her rage. Things change when her boyfriend dies in an explosion. The trailer features many action shots of Lindy in defensive art classes and at the shooting.
