Invincible Season 2: Renewed or Cancelled?

Amazon’s Invincible adult animated superhero series has been officially renewed for a second season along with the third season.

 

Following the renewal announcement, Robert Kirkman in a statement said: “I’m extremely thankful to Amazon for the support and dedication they’ve put behind Invincible.” He continued: “The comic book is truly a love letter to a genre that Cory (Walker) and I grew up reading and loving, and it’s been a gratifying journey to watch our characters come to life again through the animated series. We’re beyond excited to continue this story for at least two more seasons.”

 

The series premiered in March 2021 and received critical reviews from the audience and critics alike. Fans were so blown away by its well-crafted yet witty plot which sometimes comes off as surprising and quite challenging.

 

Although the series is renewed for a second season run, fans need to wait for a while for the new episodes to arrive on their screens. Let’s find out more about the upcoming season below.

 

Has Production Commenced For Invincible Season 2?

 

In a recent interview with series creator Robert Kirkman via Collider, he said: “The production timeline is somewhat daunting. I think that we spend a number of years developing and working on this season. As we hopefully move into season two and beyond, things will tighten.”

 

He continued: “There’s definitely a lot less designing and different things that have to happen to move into our second season. And it’s entirely possible that there’s already work that has been done on the second season. So I think we’re in a good place to be moving forward, were this show to end up being successful.”

 

Invincible Season 2 Release Date: When Will It Premiere?

 

Amazon Studios is yet to announce the official release date for season 2 of Invincible. Production likely has begun but it’ll probably take some time till we finally see the new season.

 

The earliest we can expect a release date would be sometime in 2023.

 

The Cast of Invincible Season 2: Who’s In It?

 

We do know for a fact that Steven Yeun who plays the main character in the series is returning in the upcoming season but except for him, nothing has been confirmed about the other characters. However, we expect the other characters to return as well which includes–

  • J.K. Simmons will play Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man

  • Sandra Oh will portray the role of Debbie Grayson

  • Zazie Beetz will play the character of Amber Bennett

  • Gillian Jacobs plays Samantha Eve Wilkins/Atom Eve

  • Andrew Rannells will play William Clockwell

  • Walton Goggins will play the character of Cecil Stedman

  • Jason Mantzoukas will be playing Rex Sloan/Rex Splode

  • Ross Marquand will play Rudy Conners, Kursk and Bi-Plane

  • Mark Hamill will portray Art Rosenbaum

  • Khary Payton will play Markus Grimshaw/Black Samson

  • Malese Jow will play the role of Kate Cha/Dupli-Kate

  • Grey Griffin reprise her role as Shrinking Rae and Amanda 

  • Kevin Michael Richardson will play the role of Monster Girl/the Mauler Twins

  • Seth Rogen will play Allen the Alien

  • Mahershala Ali will play Titan

 

The Plot of Invincible Season 2: Expectations

 

As for the plot, not much is known about it for now as it’s been kept secret but it’s highly likely that the story will be picked up from where the first season left off.
