Industry Season 2: Release date, Cast, and Plot

Conceived by Micky Down and Konrad Kay, ‘Industry’ is British-American drama TV series that was released on November 9, 2020, on HBO in the US, and on November 10, 2020, on BBC Two in the UK. The show was renewed for a second season in December 2020. After almost a gap of two years, Industry is returning with its second season this Summer.

In an interview with Vogue, actress Marisa Abela was asked if she knew the program would be back with season 2. She explains, “It was in my contract to do another one, so I knew I’d be coming back if they wanted to do another one. I was really excited about it but, obviously, the show came out during the pandemic so it took a while for us to figure out what’d happen. Once I found out we’d be going back, I wanted to start shooting again as soon as possible really.”

The official synopsis for season one states: Industry “follows a group of young graduates competing for a limited set of permanent positions at Pierpoint & Co, a prestigious investment bank in London”. It stars Myha’la Herrold, Marisa Abela, and Harry Lawtey amongst others.

Here’s what we know about Season 2 of Industry.

Industry Season 2 Release Date: When is it?

Industry Season 2 is slated to be released on August 1, 2022. The pandemic did affect the storyline making the creators the time skip allowed them to come up with new storylines that fitted to seasoned experts.

“We deliberately picked characters at the start of their careers, but it was really difficult [to give them] enough agency to make them compelling TV characters,” co-create Conrad Kay expresses. “Because instead of leading the action, they were always having to report to people.… So Season 2 was really exciting for us because we’re like, ‘Oh, we can jump these people forward into that third year, and they’re going to become active characters immediately because they’re gonna have to pursue business.”

Industry Season 2 Plot: What Would Be The Storyline For Season 2 of Industry?

In July 2022, Marisa Abela who plays Yasmin sat down with Vogue and revealed some interesting things on what fan can expect this season. She teased that Yasmin’s character will be explored further in the upcoming season.

“In season one, Yasmin was desperately trying to pretend that she wasn’t from the world that she’s from, trying not to come across as a princess, to get rid of the shackles of her privilege. But then, I think Covid brought her back to that bubble and, over those two years, she became less concerned about losing her grasp on reality. So, when we see her come back into the office this season, she’s as toff-like as I think Yasmin will ever get, and very different from the Yasmin of season one, with her crippling anxiety and guilt. That does sneak back towards the end of the season, but otherwise, her mentality is like, “Fuck it.”

Viewers need to brace themselves as season two will get a whole lot more steamy and spicy so what do Abela’s have to say on this about doing nudity?

“I had quite serious conversations with them about nudity. It’s still there and a part of the show, but, this season, I had a bit more leverage. That’s not to say that anyone put me in a position that I didn’t want to be in in season one, but I had a bit more of a leg to stand on when it came to asking, “Why?” I think it’s a good thing to take power when it comes to those situations and say, “Is this necessary here?” Or, “Instead of this, could it be this?” And it might not even be about nudity,” she explained.

Further adding, “There’s a scene in season two, when Yasmin puts a partner’s hands up and covers his eyes. Originally, it was something maybe slightly more violent. I think that when we put violent sex on screen, we need to make sure that it’s for an important reason, even if it is a woman inflicting it on a man. Even if it’s just fun and kinky, I wanted to make sure we were being sensitive. So, it was like, “Maybe there’s a way of doing this that’s like, she’s covering someone’s eyes instead of choking them? Let’s do that.”
