The Hitman’s Bodyguard 3: Is it Happening?

It’s definitely happening! Slama Hayek who plays Sonia Kincaid and Patrick Huges who’ll be helming the upcoming threequel in the franchise dropped hints about the much anticipated ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard 2’. They did disclose that another key player will be added but refused to reveal who.

“I hope so. If it happens, I know they’re adding one more person,” Hayek replied when questioned whether a threequel was happening or not. Hughes in the meantime confessed that he already has a clue of who would be joining the third installment, but unfortunately did not disclose who it was as he didn’t want to spoil things and kept it as a surprise. “I can’t say that because it will reveal the plot,” he responded. When Huges was persistently asked on the matter, he gleefully jokes saying, “John Candy, that’s who I want.” While that will most likely never happen for many apparent reasons, we’re at least delighted to have Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson in the next movie.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard 3: Release date

The Hitman’s bodyguard was released on August 18, 2017, in the United States. The sequel of it, titled the Hitman’s wife’s bodyguard, was released on June 16, 2021. The first edition of the film earned $176 million worldwide.

Although the second edition of the film received a negative response from the critics, it did well with the audience. This is one of the primary reasons why the film might make a comeback with its third instalment.

However, there’s been no official word about the filming schedule for the third movie of the Hitman’s Bodyguard even though there’s been news about a potential threequel in the future.

So coming back to the release date, nothing is known so far. The filmmakers or the cast members have not said anything about when the third movie will be out. At this point, we’re left clueless but based on our not-so-accurate guesses, the upcoming movie will likely be out somewhere in mid or late 2023 at the earliest. Also, we can expect more announcements in the coming days, weeks, or months once filming for the new movie officially begins.  (Updated 25/11/2022)

The previous installments of the film followed the story of a bodyguard who gets the mission of protecting a convicted hitman Jackson. The Hitman is on the way to testify at the international criminal court.

The second instalment of the film showed the story of suspended bodyguard Michael Bryce who again has to team up with the Hitman Darius Kincaid. He not only has to protect the Hitman but his wife as well, in addition to stopping a madman from launching a terror attack on Europe. The second installment explored the aftermath of Sonia and Darius becoming Michael’s adoptive parents. The Hitman’s bodyguard 3 is likely to show new action taking a course in Europe or Mexico. The new sequel would also showcase the relationship between the Hitman, his wife, and their bodyguard.
