Starring Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin in lead roles, Greenland is an American disaster thriller series. It made its appearance in December 2020 after a long wait. Greenland grabbed the attention of viewers worldwide and became one of the critically acclaimed series of 2020. The fact that the series had a global collection of $52.3 million is a testimony to its popularity. Since the premiere of this film, fans are wondering if the moviemakers have plans for a sequel or not. However, it is confirmed that a follow-up is already in the works. When is Greenland: Migration getting aired?

Disappointingly, there is no official word regarding the date of airing of Greenland two. But since the film has gone into pre-production in June 2021, our best guess is that the second installment would be scheduled for a theatrical release either by the last part of 2022 or the first quarter of 2023, at the least. 

Due to the halt in the global production, the premiere date of Greenland one was pushed back several times. Now that things are gradually getting back to normal, part two of Greenland might make an early release.  Yet that is our mere guess. 

The upcoming sequel to Greenland would concurrently hit the theatres and online platforms. The wait maybe a little too much for the fans, but we assure you that it will be worth it. 

Who is in the cast of Greenland: Migration?

Fans must be glad to hear that the original cast of Greenland will be returning for the sequel. Gerald Butler will essay the character of John Garrity, the man who will go to any length to protect his family from the deadly catastrophe. Marlena Baccarin will portray the role of the lead female character, Allison Garrity, Gerald’s estranged spouse. The Garrity’s is incomplete without the apple of their eye, Nathan, the kid with diabetic issues. It is anticipated that the role of Nathan Garrity would be played by Roger Dale Floyd. Nathan has played a crucial role in building the storyline of Greenland one, thus, he will potentially be in the center stage in Greenland two as well. Ric Roman Waugh will also return to his directional role and bring back his creative vision on board. 

Chris Sparling will be the designated writer of Greenland two.

Interestingly, Butler has had collaborated with the director, Ric Roman Waugh on several projects in the past as well. Angel Has Fallen had brought two of these brilliant minds together. In June 2021, Butler and Ric also made news for their forthcoming season of ‘Has Fallen’- Night Has Fallen. Butler will take on the role of Mike Banning, the US secret service agent in the fourth part of Has Fallen. The release date of the film series is yet to be announced. 

What is the Plot of Greenland: Migration?

Greenland follows the survival story of an American family when their lives take a dramatic turn after an interstellar comet collides with Earth, which led to sweeping off the entire civilization.  The first film was appreciated for its gripping storyline and outstanding performances. Currently, there is no concrete information about the plot of Greenland two. Even so, it is fair to assume that the second movie will continue the story of Greenland. Now Garrity will have to leave the haven i.e. the safe underground bunkers of Greenland and hunt for a new dwelling as they take the journey to the wastelands of Europe. 

Along with drama and tension, Greenland two will explore the lengths to which mankind can go for its survival. It would be interesting to know if the creators decide to add new twists to the existing plot by including more planet-destruction diasters. 

The first installment of Greenland has raised the expectations of the viewers. Thus, the question remains will Greenland two take the game a notch up and outperform its preceding part in terms of gross and viewership numbers as well as narratives. We shall get the answers sooner than later.
