Director Rian Johnson disclosed on Twitter that the much-anticipated sequel, scheduled to release sometime this year, is called ‘Glass Onion’. The statement was made along with a short clip that underlined the movie’s loaded up ensemble star cast, which comprises Janelle Monáe, Madelyn Cline, Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista. Ultimately, Daniel Craig will also return as detective Benoit Blanc.
Offering an explanation behind the unique title regarding the Knives Out 2 Johnson said, “I’m always fishing for something fun that Blanc can grab onto as an overwrought metaphor that he can beat to death… This is all in plain sight from the very start. So, the idea of glass came to me, something that’s clear. I’ll be very honest. I literally got out my iPhone and searched my music library with the word ‘glass.’ There’s got to be some good glass songs. I was like, “Oh, is it a glass fortress? Is it a glass castle? Is it a glass man?” The first thing that came up, because I’m a huge Beatles fan, is “Glass Onion.”
The title has an odd ring to it but we’re not complaining. We actually love it!

Set in Greece, the sequel follows detective Benoit Blanc, portrayed again by Daniel Craig, who unravels yet another murder mystery.
Netflix’s Tudum described the story as revolving around a tech billionaire named Miles Bron (Edward Norton), who invites his friends to enjoy a trip to his very own private island, but one of them shortly ends up dead. Explaining his casting choice for the upcoming film Johnson stated it was somewhat like “throwing a dinner party.”
“You try and invite people that you like,” he explained. “But the reality is you never know. At the end of the day, just trying to get the best actors in each part, the actors that are most right for each individual part. So, you also just throw the dice and hold your breath. Luckily, we got a great group that really meshed.”
