Fear Street has now completed its trilogy and revealed all about the curse that had haunted Shadyside for centuries, but is this really the end? Will we get more of the show in the future? Will it even renew for a fourth season? Let’s find out..
Fear Street 4 release date: When can we expect Fear Street 4?
The original trilogy was filmed back-to-back from March-September 2019 ahead of a planned June 2020 release in cinemas. The trilogy finally debuted on July 2, July 9 and July 16, around a year after the planned initial release. However, the major question is: will the show even be renewed or will it be cancelled?
The show maker said in an interview, “One of the things that talked about before I was hired was that we have a potential here to create a horror Marvel, where you can have slasher killers from lots of different eras”.
“You have the canon of our main mythology that’s built around the fact that the devil lives in Shadyside, so there’s also room for everything else… I think that my hope is that audiences like it enough that we can start building out [more], we can think about what another trilogy would be, what standalones would be, what TV would be.”
“I don’t even think about it like TV or movies exactly anymore. That’s the great thing about Netflix and about what Fear Street is, which is kind of a hybrid new thing. I’m excited about the possibility of what else can happen.” This shows that season 4 might be renewed!
Unless they have already filmed the fourth movie in secret, we won’t be seeing it until 2022 at the earliest. If we receive more information, we will let you guys know. Stay tuned!
Fear Street 4 cast: Who’s coming back for Fear Street 4?
If the next Fear Street instalment picks up directly from the cliffhanger of the third movie, there’s only a handful of characters who could return. Below is a list of cast members who might return for the fourth edition.
- Deena (Kiana Madeira),
- Sam (Olivia Scott Welch),
- Ziggy (Gillian Jacobs),
- Josh (Benjamin Flores Jr),
- Martin (Darrell Britt-Gibson) and
- Mrs Lane (Jordana Spiro).
It could well be that all of them are drawn into a new curse affecting Shadyside, but that might feel a bit too similar to the original trilogy. We think it’s more likely a new Fear Street movie (or show) would take place in a different time setting – and Janiak has already been thinking about when.
I really started getting excited about a ’50s slasher movie, which I haven’t really seen and what that means,” she told IndieWire. “It’s just cool to think about the different eras and what’s possible as a horror fan.”
Fear Street Part 4 synopsis
As of right now, no official plot details or a synopsis exists for Fear Street Part 4. However, director Leigh Janiak has also expressed interest in future films expanding the lore of The Fear Street Trilogy, specifically stating she would want to adapt a slasher movie that takes place in the 1950s revolving around The Milkman, aka Harry Rooker.
Whether this happens is still to be determined, and it will be interesting to see how things play out with the development of Fear Street Part 4, if they decide to go that route.
