Enchanted 2: What will we get to see?

Enchanted was first released in 2007, and after almost 15 years, a sequel to the original has been confirmed and is officially titled ‘Disenchanted.’ The first movie was a huge hit at the box office, collecting over $340 million worldwide.

But why is a sequel releasing after such a long gap? Let’s find out everything we know about it.

Enchanted is officially titled “Disenchanted”!

Disenchanted is an upcoming American musical fantasy movie and a sequel to the original. The upcoming sequel will be directed and penned by Adam Shankman. Initially, the Enchanted sequel was somewhat in the works back in 2010, and the sequel was titled “Disenchanted” in 2016. Star Patrick Dempsy, who portrays Robert Philip, provided an update on the upcoming sequel while speaking with Variety.

He explained, “Every year they were like, ‘We’re going to do this. It’s going to get done,’ but then no one could agree on the script. It’s such an important film for them and it’s a satire. It’s not a typical Disney movie. It’s kind of off-brand a little bit. Yet we give honor to all of those Disney movies that have come before and they finally now have figured it out. And we’re old enough, so it’s like a midlife crisis movie.”

The actor also expressed his excitement to which he added, “The story is getting better and better. There’s a great cast coming together. And the musical numbers, I get to sing and dance. To work with everybody again after 14 years is just really exciting. We need some escapism right now. We need those romantic comedies and those musicals to get people out of the doldrums that we’re in.”

Disenchanted Release Date: When Do We Get To See It?

Disney disclosed that Disenchanted would be available for streaming on Disney plus exclusively rather than a theatrical release.

It was reported that filming for the sequel commenced in May 2021 and was officially completed production in August 2021. However, director Shankman confirmed that the movie will be out sometime in 2022. However, no release date has been provided thus far.

But as per sources, it’s now confirmed that Disenchanted will be out in the Fall of 2022. Further announcement awaits regarding the official unleash date.

The Cast of Disenchanted: Who’s in it?

The original cast members of the upcoming sequel are expected to return. Disney already confirmed in December 2020 that actress Amy Adams who played Giselle would be seen reprising her respective role. Meanwhile, in March 23, 2021, it was revealed by “Enchanted” theme composer Alan Menken in his JLBG live stream that Robert Philip, James Mardsen, and Idina Menzel will reprise their roles as Rober Philip, Prince Edward, and Nancy Termaine.

Additionally, there will be new faces introduced in Disenchanted, including Yvette Nicole Brown (as Rosaleen), Kolton Stewart (as Tyson Monroe), Gabriella Baldacchino (as Morgan, daughter of Robert Philip), Jayma Mays (as Ruby), and Oscar Nuñez as (Edgard). Whereas, Maya Rudolph will be played as the main antagonist, Malvina Monroe.

“Working again with Disney has been like coming home,” Adam Shankman explained. “With Amy and this extraordinary cast, Alan and Stephen’s mind-blowing new score, and Barry and Disney’s support, I just hope to bring magic and joy to audiences around the world.”

Producer Barry Josephson further added: “I guess dreams do come true…producing Enchanted was the most rewarding film experience I’ve ever had. I’m so excited for Adam Shankman to begin filming Disenchanted. I want to thank everyone at Disney for supporting us all the way. Very special thanks to Amy Adams for deciding to play Giselle, the character she created again! And we are so fortunate to have this incredible cast!”

Disenchanted Plot Details: What Could Happen in Disenchanted?

The official synopsis reads:

“The story is set ten years after Enchanted. Giselle, Robert and Morgan have since moved from New York to the suburbs. When Giselle begins to question her happily ever after, she wishes her life was more like a perfect fairytale. However, her wish turns both her real life and her animated home of Andalasia upside down.”

Actress Amy Adams has also confirmed that Giselle will be singing and dancing more than she did in the original film. During her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Kimmel, she remarked on how hard it was for her to complete those progressions more than a decade ago, after shooting the initial movie.

“There’s a lot more singing and a lot more dancing which was humbling. The last time I really danced as much as I’m required to dance in this, I was in my 20s and now I’m not in my 20s. It feels different in your 40s. In my heart, I look like I’m in my 20s when I’m dancing, and then I would watch playback and be like, ‘Whoa, that’s not the same.!” With that said and with all the amazing casts, we’re pretty much convinced that the sequel’s going to be great, and with all the singing and dancing happening, it’ll be a treat to our eyes and ears.
