As for the film’s plot, several sources have reported that the film is based on real events and aims to follow the tale of a family’s concealed past overlapping with ruthless the truth of one of the most crucial events in the history of America. On 4th May 1970, the Ohio National Guard fired into a mob of Kent State University student protestors who were having a peaceful rally opposing the growing involvement of the Vietnam War in Cambodia by the United States military forces as well as opposing the existence of the National Guard on their premises. A total of 28 National Guard troopers fired roughly sixty-seven rounds within 13 seconds which resulted in the casualty of four scholars and injuring seven. The firing resulted in enormous acrimony on campuses across the US, and walkouts at many universities which witnessed the biggest student strike in the United States history at the time.

Informed through Will McCormack’s viewpoint in two time periods in his life, the film seeks to appeal to “the question of not just what happened then, but why these kinds of events continue to happen.”

“The Kent shooting was a dark and pivotal moment in our nation’s history,” Briarcliff’s Tom Ortenberg said while explaining about the project. “This is a story that needs to be told and surprisingly never happened. We look forward to bringing it to the big screen to educate and inspire young and old alike.”

Along with Brown, Mulroney and Backus, the movie will also feature Aksel Hennie (The Trip), and Jacqueline Emerson (The Hunger Games) alongside Christopher Ammanuel, and Andrew Ortenberg.
