The comedy series’ first season debuted on October 8, 2022. While its second season is scheduled to premiere on October 21, 2022.
Similarly, the second instalment will also centre on Maxo Gallardo (Eugenio Derbez) in his twenties who lands a job at a resort as a Cabana boy in Acapulco.
The official synopsis states: “In 1985, Máximo must contend with upheaval at the resort, unexpected problems at home and a new love interest who just might rival the girl of his dreams. Under Don Pablo’s guidance, he sets his eyes on one day running the entire Las Colinas operation by becoming the right-hand man of Diane. Meanwhile, in present day, older Máximo (Derbez) returns to Acapulco to make peace with the recent passing of Don Pablo, where he is forced to confront some unfinished business young Máximo left behind.”
The cast members in season two comprises Enrique Arrizon (as Young Maximo Gallardo Ramos), Fernando Carsa (as Gullermo), Damián Alcázar (as Don Pablo Bonilla), Camila Perez (as Julia Gonzalez), Chord Overstreet (as Chad Davies), Vanessa Bauche (as Nora Gallardo Ramos), Regina Reynoso (as Sara Gallardo Ramos), Raphael Alejandro (as Hugo), Jessica Collins (as Diane Davies), Rafael Cebrián (as Hector Valero), and Carlos Corona (as Esteban),
In a previous interview with Show Snop, Enrique Arrizon who plays as the younger version of Maximo was asked how it feels like to play his character in the 1980s.
He said: “Well, it’s a different decade, so of course, I needed advice and stories from my parents, my grandparents, people I know that lived in that atmosphere, and that place at that moment. But I think the writers were close to us, and they were wide open to hearing our questions. They also wanted us to know everything about the story.”
“I think we got the correct way that Acapulco was in its golden days, at its prime. Acapulco was well known to be the favorite destination for Mexicans because it was a great place to have great nightlife and the beaches, the people, the food, is [all] excellent, so Acapulco has a lot to tell, and here in this series, we are showing everything.”
The actor also added: “It’s a family comedy. We were talking before, and we are tired of watching all the series about killings, about murders. This is a feel-good series. You can watch it with your family, and it’s important. I think that’s why Ted Lasso is having so much success.”
Serving as executive producers of the show are Winsberg, Cisneros, Shuman, and Harris also alongside Ben Odell and Sonia Gambaro from 3Pas Studios, and Eric and Kim Tannenbaum and Jason Wang from The Tannenbaum Company. Meanwhile, Jay Karas serves as EP and director.
